When you woke up this morning, you probably saw the words #CatrionaDance on Twitter’s top trending topics. Before checking it out, different thoughts probably passed through your head: Is it a video of Catriona Gray dancing? Did the beauty queen—who has announced that she’s now focusing on her music—release a dance song? 

Well, it’s neither (although we would LOVE to see more Catriona content). As it turns out, #CatrionaDance is a new dance craze based on an original song called “Catriona” by Filipino rapper Matthios and with choreography by Mannex Manhattan. Some of the lyrics include: “I can see her winning the Miss Universe / And if heaven does exist it will most prolly look like her.” DON’T MISS THIS!

“Tala” (English: Star) is a song by Filipino singer and actress Sarah Geronimo, written by Nica del Rosario and Emmanuel Sambayan with music and production by Jumbo De Belen and Alisson Shore of Flip Music Production. It was released as the lead single from Geronimo’s platinum album The Great Unknown. The song became one of the most played OPM songs of 2016, winning “Song of the Year” at the 2017 Myx Music Awards. In 2018, Geronimo performed the song on ASEAN-Japan Music Festival held in Tokyo. In 2019, CNN Philippines named the song as the Best OPM song of 2010s. In the latter half of 2019, “Tala” became ubiquitous three years after its release receiving a new level of popularity and started as a dance challenge through social media in the Philippines.
